Smith.
His morning routine always began with reading the Washington Recriminator.
Harold always believed the articles published in the Washington Recriminator.
Until he read his own name in the obituary.

After a few moments of surprise, checking the name letter by letter, the birth date, the adress, Harold concluded it was his name indeed in the obituary. He picked up his phone and called the WR. He chatted with the WR chatbot and got the information that the event of his death was communicated by the Roger & Wilonda Hospital. He had visited the hospital no later than the day before. But as far as he could remember, he had walked out alive. He contacted the hospital avatar. The 3D image stood in front of him; the avatar searched the hospital archives and confirmed that Harold had passed the day before, at 2 PM. Even if the information was erroneous, nothing could be done anymore : his death had been recorded in the city blockchain archive system. Nothing could alter that information anymore and …
Communication was shut down. A warning message floated a few minutes in the air where the avatar stood : “Internet subscription terminated”. The lights went out. Harold walked into the dark till he reached the apartment front door. He opened the door. A robotic real estate agent was levitating in front of him. “This apartment is for rent following the death of the previous tenant. May he rest in peace. Are you interested ?”
Harold ran to the exit. As he brushed past the janitor, he could hear the man say : “Sorry for your loss”. Harold rushed to his car and said out loud :"open the door". But the system refused to open. The news of his death had already spread to the car leasing company.

“Here is the situation”, the police officer was speaking slowly. She wanted to be sure that Harold understood what she was saying. “You are legally dead. The information of your death has been recorded in the city blockchain. And that can not be altered. This is the very principle of a blockchain. Unalterable archives. There is nothing we can do about it. The past can not be rewritten”. Harold then knew what he had to do and walked toward the Roger & Wilonda hospital.

Reading the daily news was a serious matter for Harold J. Smith.
His morning routine always started by analyzing the news published by the Washington Recriminator. Most articles were well documented, real enquiries. Some seemed less serious, like this article about a man who had been dead for 24 hours and was born again.

Any resemblance would be a coincidence.
Please read : Roger & Wilondra Hospital by Ronald Wrong, the Washington Recriminator (RW) by Ronald Wrong

No Fun Today

Blockchained

Data charity

AI love you

LOL cats from Hell

Reading the daily news was a very serious matter for Harold J.
